The Diagnoaze section in the panel shows useful details: click the title Iepen Fryske Stavering at the top of the panel five times to show it. Please don’t include private text from your documents.
Getting started
Mark your Frisian text first. The add-in only checks text that is marked as Frisian. Select the text and click Seleksje as Frysk in the panel, or Hiel dokumint as Frysk for everything. Word then stops checking that text as Dutch or English, and the add-in checks it instead.
Red and blue: a red squiggle means the word isn’t in the word list. A blue squiggle means the word is correct, but the official word list prefers another form, for example achterbân → efterbân.
Frequently asked questions
The panel says nothing is marked as Frisian
Select your Frisian text and click Seleksje as Frysk, or use Hiel dokumint as Frysk. Text you type in a Frisian paragraph stays Frisian. Pasted text keeps its own language, so mark it again if needed.
How do I unmark text that isn’t Frisian?
Select it, choose Tools → Language (on Windows: Review → Language → Set Proofing Language) and pick the right language. The panel picks up the change as soon as you click in the text again.
Word still marks Frisian words with its own Dutch or English squiggles
That text isn’t marked as Frisian yet. Mark it with the buttons in the panel.
I see the panel, but no squiggles in the text
Squiggles in the text need a recent Word: on the Mac, version 16.85 or newer with a Microsoft 365 subscription. Also check that Streekjes yn ’e tekst is ticked in the panel. Without squiggles, the panel still lists every word with suggestions.
In Word on the web, everything is checked, including Dutch
Word on the web doesn’t let add-ins read or set the language of text. There, the add-in checks all text and the marking buttons are hidden. Turn off Streekjes yn ’e tekst if the squiggles on other languages get in the way.
How do I remove a word from my personal list, or undo Negearje?
Open Myn wurden at the bottom of the panel and click × next to the word. The section appears as soon as you have added or ignored a word. Words you ignored with Negearje can be taken back the same way.
